It all began in 1975, when French racecar driver Hervé Poulain asked his friend, American artist Alexander Calder, to paint the BMW 3.0CSL that he drove at Le Mans that year.

Since Hervé Poulain drove his famous car at Le Mans, there are 17 official BMW Art Cars, each with their own unique spirit that reflects the artist.
